BAF has always been about people telling their stories. Whilst we've featured films at many of the events, we haven't had a whole night dedicated to film. Furthermore the Pavilion Arts Centre has had a revamp this year and now features one of the biggest cinema screens in the region. So we thought we'd challenge the status quo and curate a programme of the very best award winning films from the best adventure film festivals around the world. The evening will be split into two halves as usual, each with its own theme, and the chance to talk about the films and what they meant to you afterwards. It will be hosted by director of the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival Matt Heason, with special guests from the adventure film industry and live interactive elements supported by Boom Beam*. It'll be an inspirational, thought provoking foray into adventure film like no other.

*This is going to be an interactive event, where we’re going to be discussing how adventure films make us feel. There’ll be short periods between each film where we’ll ask the audience for their “feelings” on the film they’ve just watched, which will be the foundation of the discussion that will happen at half time. It will be an opportunity for the audience to learn about the rationale behind some of the filmmakers aims in making the films and for the filmmakers to see the audiences’ interpretation of their films – did they achieve their aims? Whilst we’ll be asking everyone to keep their phones on silent during the evening, this is an event where we’ll actively encourage you to bring your mobile devices along and take part in the discussion.
